This authentic specimen is a fragment of Laâyoune 002, a lunar meteorite officially identified as a feldspathic breccia. It was discovered in the Western Sahara Desert and confirmed to be of lunar origin by the University of Washington.

Each fragment features a gray lunar surface, with some accented by weathered brown areas, bright mineral clasts or rare metallic grains — uncommon even among lunar meteorites. These clasts are remnants of the Moon’s primordial crust, shaped by ancient volcanic activity and high-energy impacts over billions of years. 

Lunar meteorites are extraordinarily rare, making up less than 1% of all meteorites found on Earth. They’re significantly rarer than gold or diamonds, and each specimen is completely unique. This particular fragment began its existence on the Moon before a powerful impact launched it into space, eventually landing here on Earth after a journey of thousands of miles.
