Greek Coin of Antioch (300–100 BC)
Struck in the ancient city of Antioch, a key fortress and trade hub along the Silk Road, this Hellenistic coin dates to between 300 and 100 BC. Founded by a general of Alexander the Great, Antioch was a cultural and commercial crossroads, connecting East and West.
Obverses vary, featuring diademed kings or gods and goddesses like Apollo and Athena. Reverses may show Nike, ships’ prows, and other symbols of trade and religion. Each coin bears a warm orange desert patina, highlighting its details and ancient character.
An excellent piece for collectors interested in Greek history, ancient commerce, or Silk Road connections.
