Bring the Moon down to Earth—literally. This specimen is a genuine fragment of Bechar 003, a lunar meteorite officially classified as a feldspathic breccia and recovered in the deserts of Algeria on March 24, 2022. It was analyzed by the Department of Earth and Space Sciences at the University of Washington, confirming its lunar origin.
The fragment’s surface is a medium lunar gray with weathered brown patches, flecked with brilliant white mineral clasts and rare metallic grains—a striking combination rarely found in lunar meteorites. These clasts are remnants of the Moon’s ancient crust, forged in the violent impacts and volcanic processes that shaped our celestial neighbor over billions of years.
Lunar meteorites are exceptionally rare, representing less than 1% of all meteorites on Earth—rarer than gold or diamonds. Every piece is unique, and no two will ever be exactly alike. Your fragment began its journey on the Moon’s surface before a massive impact ejected it into space, where it traveled thousands of miles before landing on Earth.
