Hold a tangible link to the Ice Age with this genuine sample of woolly mammoth hair, which has been preserved in the Siberian permafrost for roughly 20,000 years. Each small bundle is housed in an acrylic display with removable clear jar, perfect for study or display.
The woolly mammoth’s dense coat was a masterpiece of natural engineering, composed of three distinct layers: long, coarse guard hairs to block snow and wind, a warm insulating underlayer, and fine wool-like strands that trapped heat. This remarkable adaptation—combined with thick subcutaneous fat—allowed mammoths to survive Arctic temperatures plunging below −50°C.
Each specimen offers a rare opportunity to study and display authentic hair from one of the most iconic creatures of the Pleistocene epoch.
